1. What This Policy Covers

This Privacy Policy explains what information Bessie & Jessie's Helpers ("the Site," "we," "us") collects when you use helpwantedhelpoffered.com, how we use it, and who we share it with. It applies alongside our Terms of Use.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly:

  • Account information: your email address, and, if you sign in with Google or Facebook, the name, email address, and profile picture your Google/Facebook account shares with us.
  • Profile and listing content: anything you add to your profile, and the title, description, category, location, and photos you include in a listing.
  • Messages:the content of messages you send other users through the Site's messaging system.
  • Ratings: ratings and reviews you leave for other users after a mutually-agreed service arrangement.
  • Payment information: if you post a paid listing, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your card details directly — we never see or store your full card number. We do receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, and basic billing metadata.

We also collect some information automatically:

  • Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) generated by our hosting provider.
  • A session cookie used to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and maintain your account, and let you sign in.
  • To show your listings, profile, and ratings to other users of the Site, as intended by a public classifieds platform.
  • To deliver messages between users through the messaging system.
  • To process paid listing fees and, if you enable it, recurring monthly auto-renewal charges.
  • To send you service emails: magic-link sign-in links, listing renewal reminders, and messages notifying you of activity on your account.
  • To maintain the security of the Site and prevent abuse or fraud.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Who We Share Information With

We share information with the service providers that power the Site, each acting on our behalf:

  • Google and Meta (Facebook) — if you choose to sign in with Google or Facebook, they confirm your identity to us per their own privacy policies.
  • Stripe— processes paid listing payments and stores your payment method per Stripe's own privacy policy.
  • Resend — sends transactional emails (sign-in links, notifications) on our behalf.
  • Neon (database) and Vercel (hosting) — store and serve the Site's data and infrastructure.

Other users of the Site can see your public profile, listings, ratings, and any message you send them — that's the nature of a classifieds and messaging platform. We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Site, our users, or the public.

5. Your Choices and Rights

  • You can edit or delete your listings, and update your profile, at any time while signed in.
  • You can request that we delete your account and associated personal data by contacting us at the address below, subject to records we need to retain for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes (e.g. payment records).
  • If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the CCPA to know, delete, or opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal information). [State-specific rights language should be reviewed by an attorney for each state you operate in.]

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Listings, messages, and ratings may remain visible or stored after a listing expires or goes inactive, consistent with normal operation of a classifieds archive, unless you request deletion. Payment records are retained as required by applicable law and our payment processor's obligations.

7. Children's Privacy

The Site is restricted to users 18 and older (see our Terms of Use). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we will delete it.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and relying on reputable third-party providers (Stripe, Neon, Vercel) for sensitive data handling. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the Site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. If changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify active users.
